Aquiring Antique Books Whats The Value
Somebody not familiar with the industry may ask why anyone would be interested in antique books. Of course , lots of times the information contained in them is so outmoded that it's downright inaccurate! Science books are almost laughable with their basic awareness of the universe, medical books are surprisingly inaccurate about the workings of the body and reason for many sicknesses, and of course history books seem like fairy tales when held up against today's modern world. But for most antique books are something to be appreciated and they are really quite valuable to a lot of collectors. Particularly bibles and other holy antique books, and writings of very famous folk through history ; all these can fetch quite a sum at auction. Some of the reasons that Antique Books are so coveted by collectors include the fact that they are so fallacious when held up against today's modern textbooks. When we understand how incorrect medical books were from decades back, we realize how much work doctors and scientists have done to get to where we are today - and how much more work there is to be done. Some appreciate that antique books are seen as virtually elementary because this really paints a picture of the progress that folks have made when it comes to science or drugs. But for others, it could be the timelessness of antique books that appeal to them. When you read the papers of ancient poets and thinkers you notice that people actually haven't modified much down through history.
Where do you believe history comes from, naturally it's antique books. This is our history. It all comes from antique books.
Reading one can be like getting into a time machine and going back into the past. Knowing a book is hundreds of years old, permits us to wonder about the person who wrote it, the people who have owned it, the meaning they got from it.
So where you find clients for antique books? They are all around us. Folks who want to transport themselves back to the times of the writer and feel their feelings. These people are obsessed about their books. Most auctions have separate showings for antique books because the buyers are dissimilar from people who buy antique toys and furniture. Most libraries are on the lookout for historic books so they are always buyers. Religious organisations, and many individuals are always looking for traditional Bibles and spiritual texts. Just watch an episode of the Antiques Roadshow, they usually have a section on antique books. Antique books are hot. . Click Here For More Info On Antique Books

I found this entry in the front of my fathers bible from vietnam, can someone help me with what it means?
I have my fathers old bible from his time spent in the Vietnam War. He is no longer around, but I have always wondered the meaning of some words on the front page. It lists his name, serial number, and then this: I.C ( or L.C.) 3rd RT RNG. BN. MCRD San Diego California. 9 April 66. If anyone out there can tell me any meaning to this, I would greatly appreciate it. It would be an honor to know my fathers part in the Vietnam War. Thank you!

Why is the Bible called a fairytale?
I don't think it is one bit! Fairytales are entertaining and usually highly moral. Unlike that ugly old bible...

Does it disturb anyone that Mitt Romney is a serious presidential candidate?
Now I know what you're thinking: here's another liberal peddling his agenda. Well, ......yep, you got it, that's exactly what I'm doing. Only that liberals theses days aren't really liberals anymore.....they're rationalists. Now I can go on and on about how insane and stupid you have to be at this point to be a republican, but this question is unrelated to that. This question is about Mitt Romney's mormon faith. If you're not a moron, the following should either offend or at the very least, disturb you to no end. The following is a list of the tenants of mormonism:
--Native Americans are a lost tribe of Israel (despite the fact archaeological and DNA evidence clearly refutes this)
--Black people are the result of an inferior race of spirit beings that were neutral between Jesus and the Devil (seriously?)
--Jesus and the devil were brothers (sure.)
--"Blessed" or otherwise magic underpants will help keep you a virgin until marriage (sounds like a porn plot lol!)
--It's OK and in fact encouraged to cheat on your wife or agree to have multiple wives (polygamy is BS , let's face it.)
--The prophet/founder of the religion is a guy named Joe from Missouri who found gold plates with holy scriptures that according to him (and you can look this up) no one can see or read unless god enables them to (if that doesn't have BS written all over it, what does?)
--Homosexuality is evil
--You can become god or a god yourself
I'll stop there. But seriously the list goes on and on and on! There are over 14 million followers of this religion. If that's not disturbing enough, Mitt Romney just won the Iowa caucus. Does this not bother anyone here? Doesn't it seem like the world is going insane? 60% of Americans believe in the Noah's ark story literally! 80% of Americans believe in angels. George W. Bush placed a 2003 phone call to then French president Juaq Chirac quoting scipture telling him "Gog and Magog" are at work in the middle east as part of the justification of going to war in Iraq. Does this not bother any of you?
Now Christians at least have a 2000 year old bible and 2 billion followers. But a damn mormon contending for the white house? Seriously? Doesn't this bother you? Your thoughts and please be civil and rational in your responses. Thanks.
