Engagement Ring Appraisal

Appraisals are required by most lenders before they will approve a home loan

An appraisal is used to determine a value of something. This can be a home, property, a vehicle, or other item. Appraisals are used to find out the fair market value of a particular item. This is very important when you plan to sell or purchase an item. You want to make sure your selling price is comparable with others out there. On the purchasing end, you want to make sure you are getting a good deal for your money.

Appraisals are required by most lenders before they will approve a home loan. This is to ensure the home is valuable enough to cover the amount of the loan in the event the borrower defaults on the loan. The amount your home appraises for will change with time depending on the upkeep, the location, and the market.

Appraisals are unbiased sources of information regarding the condition and value of an item. It is best to have an appraisal done by a qualified agent. While this can be expensive, they will know exactly what to look for as well as the proper forms to complete.

Antiques are often appraised to determine their actual value. You can find an antique appraiser online or locally. Make sure you investigate their background before using them to ensure they are a reputable source of information. It is best to get more than one appraisal on antiques.

Becoming an appraiser requires an individual to have a particular number of hours of training depending on the state and the type of appraisal services to be offered. All appraisers need to be organized and know how to complete the proper forms that are required for the process. This is a field that always needs more qualified individuals to meet the appraisal demands. If you are interested in the field of appraisals, contact your local college or look on the internet for classes in your area.

Getting an appraisal for your real estate needs, antiques, or other buying and selling endeavors is a great way to find out the true value of it from a qualified professional. Appraisal services may be required in order for you to obtain financing for a home or vehicle.

What is the approximate cost of an engagement ring appraisal?
Is it more expensive if the diamond is bigger? I don't want to know how much a diamond will cost to buy - I have the ring already. I want to know how much the jeweler/appraiser will charge me for looking at the ring to give me a replacement value for insurance purposes.

Am I getting the shaft?
I love my fiance, please don't misinterpret this question. This is my first marriage but not my fiance's first. I was looking for my engagement ring appraisal this morning to find the certificate and accidentially opened the one for his ex-wife (bought at the same store). I saw that he spent over twice as much on her ring than on mine. He already told me he spent 10K of his own money on his last wedding yet refuses to spend any on this one and told me I have to use my own. We can't go to the islands or our honeymoon b/c he says he went there the last time. He refuses to go to the church wedding counseling b/c he 'did it before and it was stupid' His last wedding was red and he wants this one red and isn't willing to let me pick the shade, it has to be RED RED because his last one was a dark burgandy. I wasn't allowed to pick the ring bearer / flower girl b/c his family wasn't in his last one. So I guess, am I missing out on the enjoyment of helping plan our wedding? I should let you know, I do know he's very inflexible. I can usually deal with it and adapt or just let it go. Other than the inflexibility he is a nice and loving man. It is in my budget to pay for any extra (my parents are giving us some money, but I DO NOT want them to give us too much, they've done enough for me already). I'm just worried, his last wedding was over 50K (with her parents, his parents, and him putting in money). So I definitely can't make up that much to make it as nice, which I know is already a problem for him. He is over his last marriage, he just got screwed over pretty bad (she left as soon as they added her to their house...she was pregnant and therefore got the 'family household which lost him almost 100k downpayment) so I know he just doesn't want to put as much emphasis on money. Oh, and I know the ring isn't a big deal really. It just set me off thinking about the rest of everything. I guess it just hurt b/c he makes 100+ a year now which is twice as much as when he got married the first time. I love my ring I really do. But also, the rings are pretty much identical (Same cut, except I have smaller center stone and less side stones) which is pretty weird for me. We had joked before about what I would like and I always wanted something simple just an engraved band which isn't what he got. But I do know he put thought into it.

How much is reasonable for engagement ring appraisal?
I bought an engagement ring at Jared's yesterday. They said an appraisal would run $100-$200 depending on size of the ring, but they could do it immediately. I called on other jeweler today and they estimated it at $175 and they would have to keep overnight. What is a reasonable price to have an engagement ring appraised for insurance purposes? Any suggested stores around Philly/Newtown/King of Prussia areas?
